Following the election of the Governor of American Legion Buckeye Boys State by his fellow Boys State delegates, the new Governor-elect is formally inaugurated in ceremonies conducted on Tuesday evening. Escorted into the arena at Bowling Green State University by a detail of Ohio State Highway Patrol Officers and accompanied by the President of the American Legion Buckeye Boys State Board of Trustees, the Boys State Governor-elect passes thru an Honor Guard of Ohio American Legion members assembled in his honor. Thomas J. Moyer, Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court and a former Boys State delegate himself visits Buckeye Boys State annually to swear in the Governor of American Legion Buckeye Boys State and the other elected State officials of the Boys State program. One individual sworn in by Chief Justice Moyer is the Chief Justice of the Boys State Supreme Court who in turn swears in the members of the Buckeye Boys State House of Representatives, the Boys State Senate, the Boys State County Commissioners, and the Mayors of the Boys State cities. |
