On Monday evening, the Nationalist Party held a rally to familiarize voters with state election primary nominees. The rally was held in Millet Hall, where state primary nominees were allowed 30 seconds to make a case for themselves.
Candidates only had to say “hello” to energize the crowd, as delegates responded enthusiastically to each candidate. When one candidate went off script due to a memory lapse, the crowd still showed support for him as he left.
Gubernatorial candidates gave attention to many topics, but the issue of gambling received significant attention. Members of the Nationalist Party expressed enthusiasm when candidates discussed their views on gambling.
If elected, many candidates for Governor promised to enact legislation that would legalize sports betting and betting in card games for American Legion Buckeye Boys State (ALBBS) delegates.
Nationalist Nathan Lutz of Favreau City is running for the Office of Governor. Along with his Lieutenant Governor candidate Andrew Policastro of Favreau City, Lutz discussed connecting ALBBS delegates through text threads, and later covered their perspective on gambling.
“We will market that gambling can be addictive, but we will not hold you back from it.”
“We will market that gambling can be addictive, but we will not hold you back from it,” Policastro said during an interview.
As the primary election approached, Nationalist nominees’ focus on legalizing gambling were reflected by the priorities of its voters.
The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, to determine who will face off in the State’s General Election to be held later that afternoon.
