Quick leaders: Jeon and Frazee make big impact

As this year’s delegates make their way through the grueling election process, certain figures in local politics display the quick rise to leadership that the American Legion looks for in Buckeye Boys State attendees.

In Welsh County’s Jordan City, the Nationalist delegates talk their way through the nomination cycle. There is a lot of confusion present, as delegates arrived on the campus of Miami University less than 24 hours beforehand. With City Party Chairman Daniel Jeon of Jordan City and City Party Secretary Mason Frazee also of Jordan City leading the charge towards democracy, names were bouncing off the walls as delegates were nominating each other left and right.

Mayor, Treasurer, and City Councilman are some of the various titles that the young men are aspiring toward. If selected here by the city’s Nationalist caucus, they will face off against Jordan’s Federalist candidates, elected in the same manner.

The reasonable confusion was present for a short while, with the relief coming from the strong leadership of Jeon and Frazee, who helped shepherd delegates through the electoral process.

When questioned on his important role in this election process, Jeon believes that this role was an extraordinary privilege.

“We have wonderful [counselors] who have helped guide us in exactly what we have to do,” Jeon said. “[I] would absolutely do it again.”

Despite his role as the leader of the caucus, Jeon states that Frazee has been incredibly vital to Jordan City’s success.

“[Frazee] has been absolutely irreplaceable.”

As of Tuesday, both Jeon and Frazee have been elected to spots in the state legislature, with Frazee in the Senate and Jeon in the House of Representatives.
