The Cabinet Comes Together

Only minutes after Dajeun Dickerson of Zulch City was elected as American Legion Buckeye Boys State (ALBBS) Governor, he called a meeting with potential cabinet employees. Texts were sent out to potential appointees, summoning them to Withrow Floor 1 for another chance to win a big position.

The selection process took place outdoors at a picnic table, where Dickerson and his Lieutenant Governor Zachary May of Bishop City met with hopeful candidates. Each applicant was required to provide their name, badge number, and phone number before giving a 30-second pitch explaining why they deserved a spot in the administration.

“I got the text at the dinner hall and immediately left to try to be the first contact with the Governor.”

“I got the text at the dinner hall and immediately left to try to be the first contact with the Governor,” said Nationalist Dominick Lee Smoot of Schuck City. “I’m excited to have another opportunity.”

It is safe to say Smoot was not the only one who dropped what they were doing to come to the meeting. This was to the point where counselors caught on and asked what was going on. Along with this they were also making sure each delegate ate a full dinner.

The sense of urgency and enthusiasm wasn’t lost on observers. Dickerson’s approach favored those who showed both initiative and readiness to serve. Applicants were grilled on their qualifications and were expected to explain how they could contribute to the administration’s goals.

With the deadline of 7 p.m. to turn in appointee forms, Dickerson had to show urgency while also not rushing the process. With a combination of that and the interviewees’ readiness to sell why they deserved the position a cabinet was formed.

“[I’m] relieved to have a second opportunity at a major position like this,” said Federalist Brayden Limbacher of Jordan City. “It’s nice to be on their side rather than against them.”

As the cabinet begins to form, it’s clear that Dickerson is continuing to keep his promise by uniting people of all parties and campaigns here at ALBBS.
