Campaigning Candidates

Monday, the first full day of American Legion Buckeye Boys State was very busy for the delegates, all having their hands full running for city, county, and state job positions. Along with all of these events, one of the biggest is candidate campaigning. For all elections, campaigning is important for all sides of politics, nationalist or federalist.

There was one candidate from Weldon city who’s campaign caught many’s eyes. The delegate was running for a city position, but decided to go to other floors rather than his own to place his campaign posters. Despite a timing issue, he was able to take a quick interview, scripted below. The Weldon city delegate who was running for city treasurer was asked the main question:

“What was your plan behind this unique campaign?”

He answered with, “I saw all the other delegates doing the same thing, so I decided to take a unique approach to the art of campaigning to stand out above the rest.”

This shows that the delegate had purposely chosen a more unique approach to his campaign to stick out more than his opponents.

In the same location of Marcum Hall, there were several meetings between counties, both Federalist and Nationalist, where delegates came together to discuss campaigning for county elections. Many have been taking advantage of the campaign shop to purchase materials to make posters and other items to help promote their campaign.
