Committed Governor Candidates Have A Clash Of Titans

While there are several powerful duos in the running for this year’s American Legion Buckeye Boys State (ALBBS) governor’s election, two of these duos are beginning to stand out from the rest.

“Ben and Ben on the Ballot,” a duo made up of Benjamin O’Leary, of Weldon city and running for governor, and Benjamin Weaver, also of Weldon City and running for Lieutenant Governor, are strong candidates in the ongoing governors race.

However, they still have fierce competition from the somewhat controversial but nonetheless popular “Holten Pepper and Henry Pizza.” There’s no doubt that this year’s election for the governor and lieutenant governor will be an entertaining and close race.

“Ben and Ben on the Ballot” is truly a force to be reckoned with. The two delegates met on the first day of BBS and instantly felt a connection. O’Leary said that he “came in with a clear idea and plan of what [he] wanted to do.”

Adding onto this, Weaver explained that he “was able to put [his] pride aside” and instantly agreed to let O’Leary take the responsibility of governor.

O’Leary spoke on how he takes any opportunity to throw himself into a leadership position to practice and perfect his skills in leadership. He listed several clubs that he participated in to better himself and his leadership. He claimed that he leads not for fame or glory but to “serve others” and show others that they can be leaders too.

Weaver explained that he grew up being exposed to major leadership roles, with the Columbus Mayor being a family friend. Describing himself as a “natural born leader,” Weaver has leadership experience ranging from a track and field captain to being on student council to being a sports camp counselor.

On the other side of things we have the comical duo: Pepper and Pizza in the running. With Holten Pepper running for governor and Henry Pizza being his running mate, running for lieutenant governor.

Ben and Ben have shown determination, strength, bravery and confidence leading up to the ballot. Just walking around campus, you can see that anywhere they go they are almost always interacting with someone and endorsing their campaign. These two are definitely a duo that will be a major contender for their positions.

Conversely, Pepper and Pizza have shown honesty, grit, commitment, and endurance, even through controversy to power through and make it to the ballot. Both of these running duos are bound to make it far and keep all of the delegates at ALBBS entertained and happy.
