Federalists Take Control of State

Following the Tuesday elections, the Federalists ended up taking the majority of state offices, leaving Nationalists in the minority. This has led to some conflicts and many conversations about how this will affect the coming days. It had also brought up many questions of how delegates feel about the elections as a whole, whether or not they were fair, or if the Federalists had an advantage over the Nationalists during the campaigning.

Before the elections, delegates were given time to campaign in person or digitally for the positions they were running for. There was also a debate held in Millett Hall where Nationalist and Federalist state cabinet candidates answered and rebutted questions from the Hetuck. During these debates, many voters were swayed to the Federalist side due to their ability to answer and present. With these and many other factors, the Federalists were able to take the elections by a landslide, leaving the state torn. 

One of these many questions is whether the Nationalists are going to get proper representation in the state government. While the Nationalists fear this will affect them negatively, Federalists say that they will make sure to consider their opposing party’s ideas and concerns.  Even with this, many delegates’ concerns are still great, only furthered by the sudden spike in laws being passed due to city, county, and state jobs all being recently implemented.

After the events of the elections, it’s been easy to say that delegates have been nothing short of busy. From laws being passed to paying bills, everyone has something to do and somewhere to be. Despite parties and representation, minority or majority, we are all in this together as a state.
