On Thursday at 3:00pm, the governor of American Legion Buckeye Boys State (ALBBS) officially declared a state of emergency. The declaration arose from a tornado that swept the state, killing 7 people, injuring 45 people, and pulverizing over 100 homes. Thankfully, after a request for support from FEMA, ALBBS has earned $100,000,000 in disaster relief.
This state of emergency will remain until further specified. With these funds, the National Guard will be brought for disaster relief efforts as well as the set up of emergency hospitals.
Due to this disaster, citizens are urged to not drink water that is not bottled and to keep their doors open, preventing poisonings. Funds will also be allocated to the reconstruction of damaged property and aid with future economic growth.
Shelters have already been administered through hotels, city halls, hospitals, and YMCA. News will continue to come out as future info is obtained.
