The delegates at American Legion Buckeye Boys State (ALBBS) have been truly inspired to unite for a bigger cause: the city flags. The city flags are given out by ALBBS Legionnaires in consultation with other ALBBS staff within the City Section.
These Legionnaires and staff observe the city workers all day, looking at their strengths, weaknesses, and chemistry. They give out the flags for several reasons, whether that be the growth of the city as a whole, a successful finished product, or the overall skills of the delegates themselves.
At every evening assembly, the flags are returned from the previous night and are awarded to a new city deserving of them. This part of the service is always filled with city pride as they wait in anticipation to see if they won the flag.
These flags are not only a symbol, they are so much more than that. The flags motivate the delegates to work as well and as hard as they can in order to be worthy of the esteemed prize.
