Department of Development Unveils Economic Stimulation Package

Alexander “Xander” Sands, of Estepp City and the American Legion Buckeye Boys State (ALBBS) Director of the Department of Development Service Agency (DDSA), recently introduced an initiative on July 17, issuing, for the first time in our state’s history, permitting citizen-created businesses to stimulate the statewide economy.

In a massive marketing campaign, posters, emblazoned with promises of entrepreneurship and state-backed loans, have appeared in all cities and counties from the State DDSA. In the center, a QR code takes a prospective businessman to the application.

The new initiative has been tempered by regulations imposed in keeping with ALBBS Rules, restricting new businesses to Boys State Dollars (BSD) and requiring a DDSA-approved business permit.

In an interview with The Hetuck, Sands detailed his plan for economic growth and prosperity, claiming that his program of distributing low-risk loans to prospective small-business owners would stimulate investment and growth of the economy.

The plan, causing an increase in investment in the economy, has the potential to permanently increase the amount of much-needed economic infrastructure. In fact, of the program, Sands said, “We are making the economy of Ohio a lot stronger.”

The first businesses to take part in the program have already been approved for loans, among the first being casinos, newly legalized by the Boys State General Assembly and open for business, though restricted from use of US dollars in any transaction. Sands said that he had already “approved two different casinos in two cities” and predicted a rise in “gambling across the state.”

With the implementation of the program, hopes are high for a new era of economic renewal in ALBBS, and promise a new wave of small-business owners and entrepreneurs.
