On Wednesday morning, Zulch City witnessed a mysterious garden Gnome appear in the dorm hall. It is engulfed with a mossy coat, holding a flickering lantern in one hand, and in the other one, a spade. It is unclear why this figure has popped up, some speculate it is a social test, others believe that it serves a humorous purpose. Everyone was flummoxed by this strange encounter.
The Mayor of Zulch City Colton Carli replied, “At first it was confusion and also a little bit of fear.”
Zulch City then decided to pass legislation on Friday, officially declaring the Gnome City Mascot. At first it was for humorous purposes, but then the Mayor realized that the Gnome united Zulch city, creating brotherhood and efficient camaraderie.
Carli stated that “Fully recognizing it from a legislation and government standpoint can help to see its worth and what it has helped the city to do.”
Another member of Zulch city, Jason Wen, the City Engineer, thought it was “creepy, but also strange.” Wen felt like it “made the bond stronger with other delegates and created unity amongst everyone-regardless of party.” Wen was one of the few that chose the name “Zome” Wen described it as putting “Zulch and Gnome together to create Zome.”
What started out with perplexity and humor as efficiently united a city together, creating a bond and city pride over the other cities that don’t have a mascot.
