DeWeese County Commissioners Discuss The Position

The majority of elected government positions usually go to one person, but in the case of the county level of government, three people are the policymakers of the county. Those officials are the county commissioners.

At the American Legion Buckeye Boys State (ALBBS) county of DeWeese county, delegates AJ Graves, Connor Williams, and Tyler Harris work together as a team to make sure that things in the county are running smoothly.

“We budget and make decisions and deal with county issues and also with city issues if they can’t get it done,” said Harris.

Being a group of three people, they all have to work together as a team to get things done. Many issues do come across their desks every day.

“The most notable issue included the effects of pollution from a new dairy farm caused by manure from the cows. We implemented new regulations to solve it,” said Harris on the biggest challenge he and his colleagues have faced during the duration of the program.

County commissioners also are aiming to make their county the best they can possibly make it. The DeWeese County Commissioners do not believe that it is a tough and challenging job.

“We’ve created a fair and just perspective on county issues,” said Graves on the work environment.

Additionally, Commissioner Harris also agreed on this thought of an easy going work environment, “We’re fair people and chill about it. We usually talk it out,” he commented.

Not too commonly does more than one person share that same position and title as someone else in government, but this is one exception.

Teamwork is present all across every section of ALBBS, but the three county commissioners in each of the five counties all work together under the same title to get things done.
